Job Summary:
We invite you to join the innovative and diverse faculty at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine (WesternU-CVM). We are seeking a colleague to contribute to the college’s mission to educate veterinary professionals and advance knowledge to address the contemporary needs of society. This team member will: • Provide content expertise in Small Animal Internal Medicine and/or Emergency and Critical Care, contribute to scholarly advancement of the science, and incorporate this discipline in the curriculum. • Assume various teaching roles, when required, to meet curricular demands and as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. • Provide support in the training of students in all levels of the DVM curriculum. • Serve on college and university standing committees. This position reports to the Dean. Academic activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; research activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Research; clinical activities are supervised by the Associate Dean for Clinical Services; and professional activities are supervised by the Executive Associate Dean. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess this knowledge, these skills, and abilities, or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Ability to orally communicate with others. Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside contacts. 2. Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality. 3. Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility. 4. Knowledge of educational needs for contemporary veterinary practice. 5. Knowledge and skills in his/her discipline. Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, and diplomate status or eligibility for certification examination in Veterinary Internal Medicine or Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, or equivalent advanced training, are required. Candidates with diplomate status in Internal Medicine subspecialties such as Oncology or Neurology are encouraged to apply.
