Reporting to the associate/assistant director of admissions, the admissions counselor represents Western University of Health Sciences to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The successful admissions counselor exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails, and information sessions. Works closely with the associate director of admission and admission committees before and during interview days for assigned programs. The admission counselor must work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and staff. With general guidance from the director of admission and the direct supervisor, admission counselor III creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreaches to businesses and organizations.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be willing and able to travel by plane and automobile to conduct recruitment business. Occasional weekend and evening projects.2. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and outside contacts. Requires oral presentation skills3. Computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management programs) and familiar with electronic communication strategies.4. Must have the maturity and adaptability to be team oriented and yet be able to work independently with minimal supervision5. Should possess a good understanding of higher education and issues related to student affairs.
Education and Experience-Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability.-Minimum of three to four years of experience in university admissions and recruitment or a similar recruitment setting.-Must have a willingness to travel as needed during peak recruiting seasons. Must possess a valid California Driver’s LicenseList comments regarding work hours:
Regular work hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, may require working evenings or weekends as needed.
