Position Title: Research Lab Assistant

Job Summary:
Provide support to PI by conducting experiments and maintaining research information for the Graduate College of Biomedical Sciences (GCBS). Provide support for Scientific research by faculty members at WesternU as assigned based on research funding and needs. Assist PI with their research, including experimental procedures and design; perform experiments, collect, analyze, summarize data, and writing/proofreading manuscripts. Designing and conducting independent research in coordination with Principal Investigators; including, designing experiments; conducting literature; search of published research; performing experiments; collecting, analyzing, sumarizing data; and assisting with writing/proofreading manuscripts, poster presentations, abstracts, slides, lectures and training manuals. Researching published literature, including locating/obtaining literature for principal investigators; and searching internet/library for literature related to independent research.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Basic and advanced laboratory knowledge and skills. Proficiency in protein trafficking, protein folding/misfolding/degradation, in-vitro transcription/translation and E. Coli-based protein expression research methodology and knowledge. 2. Basic skills in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. 3. Ability for logical, independent problem solving and attention to detail and process. 4. Knowledge of medical and science terminology.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Minimum requirements: BS or Masters degree in Biology, Animal Science, Bio-Chemistry, Chemistry, or related fields.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience.
